Mike Matusow vs. Greg Raymer WSOP 2004

Uploaded by: jadziad
Video Description:
They both have balls.
I don't agree with Norm in this spot, I though it was an arguable call preflop (although Raymer open pushed with no made hand on the flop as I guess Matusow'd expected) and a phenomenal call on the flop. Mike played to win and if he won the coinflip, who knows what wouldve happened.

For all of you who play online poker but don't use rakeback, realize that you have a huuuge leak. Each month you can be getting a portion of all the rake taken from the pots you were DEALT in. Thats right you don't even need to be involved in the hand. Just be dealt in and fold.... Siick eh? h t t p : / / r a k e b a c k . T w o O u t s T w i c e . c o m - there a spaces in between!

sorry Mike you were wrong here. 2 overs and a flushdraw are slightly ahead against any pair.
I don't understand the way Mike acts when he sees Raymer's hand. I reckon he knows the odds

Regardless of whether it was a bad call or not you have to respect Mike's play here. He correctly read that he had the best hand (even though it was a flip at that point) and it takes serious balls to act on that read in that spot.
Good read by Mike. ... ( 1 month ago by SNPTproductions)
Good read by Mike. Raymer's quick all in was a tell that just confirmed what Mike was thinking. Raymer had outs, it wasn't a bad play, but like Mike said after the hand, he plays to win and he's got balls.

EVERY year he does fairly well at the WSOP... whether it's going deep in the main event which he has done on a few occasions, multiple money finishes, or better yet, bracelets... he's very good in the WSOP.

I think this was a fairly bad call by Mike (though certainly not a "blow-up" like Norman Chad suggests.) Matusow correctly put Raymer on a flush draw, but he had to figure that Raymer also had 2 overcards because of his pre-flop raise giving him 15 outs twice. If it were a lesser player it'd be a good call, but why should a player of the caliber of Matusow risk most of his chips as a slight underdog when he'd barely put any money into the pot?

The more I look at ... ( 2 weeks ago by tbrien66)
The more I look at this, the worse this call seems. The absolute worst Raymer was moving in with was the nut flush draw, and Mike wasn't even sure about his read. If Raymer has QdJd, Mike's a big underdog. If Raymer has Tdxd (or even just Tx), an overpair, or a set, Mike's drawing almost dead. That being said, Matusow's one of my favorite players and I know this clip is over 4 years old; I'm just really bored right now.
I'm surprised ... ( 1 week ago by Sashinator0)
I'm surprised nobody seems to have a problem with Raymer's shove of 3x the size of the pot here, I'd go for a check-raise although the result would've been the same. I can't believe Mike would make this call thinking at best he is 46% to win. I think he might've put Raymer on just 2 overs trying to bully him back, otherwise the call makes no sense.
